The Shed Wymondham Women’s Group

Due to popular demand, the Shed Wymondham has started a Women’s Group. An initiative which was unfortunately delayed due to the Covid pandemic but now a thriving crafting community.

Under “The Shed Wymondham” umbrella, we can offer all the same facilities and resources as the Men’s group, but also incorporating other crafting and skills normally associated with women.

Members can bring their own crafts to work on in a lovely spacious environment, or learn new practical skills in one of the multi-function workshops. You can be trained in a variety of power tools, or get to use our substantial suite of fixed equipment. We will provide all the training and the space to work.

If you just want to come along to meet and chat to others without crafting or using power tools that’s fine too!

The Womens Group meet on Wednesdays 1pm – 4:30pm. Fridays 9:30am – 1pm. We also have a mixed day on Saturdays 9:30am -1pm, with both men and women working together and sharing skills and knowledge.

Message from the Chair of The Shed WymondhamI have just had my 5-year anniversary from taking over the running of The Shed. As many of you may know, my health issues are worsening, and I feel the time is right for me to step down as Chair. This will take place at our AGM in July this year. I have enjoyed every minute and all aspects of The Shed over those years and have made many great friends within The Shed and people in the Wymondham Community too. The Shed has also grown over those 5 years – our membership seems to increase each month, bringing new skills and knowledge along the way. From 5 men setting up a community group with 10 or so members in 2019, to a registered charity with 4 Trustees, 9 Management Committee members and around 70 Shed men and women members – it’s been quite a journey! Even through the “Pandemic Years” we managed to have weekly Zoom calls to keep members connected and the forming of the women’s group as we emerged from Covid was amazing – doubled our membership within a very short time. I will still be a member as there’s many more ideas I have for my own projects and there is no better place to do that than The Shed. I want to thank all the Management Committee members for their help and support. Also, thanks to all Shed members for being part of a fantastic project – The Shed Wymondham.We are looking for a volunteer to take on the Chair role in the running of The Shed in the near future.
